Mark is a keen rock-climber. He's thrilled to discover he's been selected to take part in a rock-climbing competition in Sydney. But before he can get there he has to raise the money to pay for his airfare and accommodation. He and his friend Kenneth come up with a scheme to bake and sell delicious muffins at school as a fundraising activity, with help from Mark’s mysterious aunt on the sideline. However someone seems to be determined to sabotage their efforts!
I love baking muffins. My sister was great at gingerbread. My mother makes a delicious chocolate cake with butter cream and real chocolate icing. The thought of this is making me drool. I liked the thought of my main character making things that make people drool. I was also working at Birkenhead Library which used to be inside a leisure centre, which meant there was a rock-climbing wall right outside the library door. The great thing about this was having the book launch and muffin-tasting competition inside the library, with a chance to do rock-climbing too. Have a look at the slideshow of Muffin Magic book launch photos.
